External Quality Control – CBC monitoring

Diatron is developing a new program that will offer end users an external performance measure of their hematology analyzer through the use of their daily internal blood quality control measurements.

In this external quality control program*, the mean values of each individual laboratory analyzer will be calculated from several individual determinations. By comparing the means, rather than that of single values, quality control programs provide more powerful statistical analysis. They are more sensitive measures of true performance differences between both peer groups and individuals within a peer group. Regulatory agencies use these results as a judgment criteria in gauging a laboratory’s quality control performance. As a result, it has become necessary for every laboratory to know as much as possible about their own performance and that of their peer group.

Diatron encourages you to enroll in this new program and allows all participants to submit control data from their instrument(s). The data will include all measured parameters from the three level QC material.  On a monthly basis, each participating laboratory will receive a full report, with a complete statistical analysis of their instrument performance and will show how your own instrument compares with that of your peers.
