20 years in Hematology

Diatron was founded in 1989 as a privately-owned company specializing in development, manufacturing and marketing of high-quality compact hematology analyzers for the human and veterinary market. Throughout the world, Diatron is a well known brand name for both the human and veterinary markets.  Their reputation has been built upon their ability to manufacture high quality and extremely reliable instruments.  

Family of benchtop analyzers - 3, 4 and 5-part analyzers

1991: Diatron's introduction to the hematology market was the Minitron which was a 10-parameter semi-automatic cell counter combined with the Dilutron dilutor.

1994: Diatron introduced the second generation of semi-automatic cell counters with by offering the 16-parameter MiniCell and TwinCell. These instruments resulted their first veterinary cell counter named the MiniVet.

1998: Diatron manufactured their first 18-parameter, fully automatic hematology analyzer, the Abacus

2000: Diatron enhanced their Abacus instruments that were based on standard PC architecture, and feature integrated veterinary module. This new product was named the Arcus and became Diatron's core model that became the foundation of future growth.

2002: Diatron introduced their fourth generation cell counter: the Abacus junior family which represented a complete redesign of its predecessors for human and veterinary applications.

  • 18 parameter Abacus junior
  • 18 parameter Abacus junior vet
  • 12 parameter Abacus junior B (to replace semi-automatic counters on the market)

2004: Diatron introduces their new 22-parameter, 5 part differential analyzer instrument designed on the same platform as the rest of the junior family: Abacus junior 5

2007: Two new instruments were introduced to the market:

  • Abacus Junior Vet 5 with 22 parameters and 5-part WBC differential - an improved version of the Abacus junior vet.
  • Abacus junior EO: a 20 parameter instrument with 4-part differential  (including Eosinophils)

2009:Diatron came up with two high-class analyzers

  • Abacus 3: providing 20 parameters, including 3-part WBC differential
  • Abacus 5 with autoloader: These instruments provide 24 parameters with a laser based precise 5 part differential.  Both instruments analyze 60 samples an hour and the optional autoloader provides the capability of loading up to 100 patients on the analyzer at any time.
